Edward Friedrich, along with Ruth Heath, are the Democratic candidates for the two state representative seats in Merrimack County, District 4. Ed is a very community-minded citizen. He and his wife Lois have lived in Loudon for five years. Born in Illinois, Ed graduated from Iowa State University and was commissioned into the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973. Ed then entered the hospitality business, working in restaurant management and hotel management. He has been active in various associations and organizations, including the Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Society, the American Legion and Lions Clubs in Woburn, MA and in Loudon. He is currently president of the Loudon Lions Club and was named the NH District Lion of 2024.
Ed considers himself a moderate Democrat. He believes that “Live Free or Die” applies to everyone regardless of race, religion, age, sexual orientation, reproductive needs, political philosophy, or zip code. I personally know that Ed is kind, trustworthy, and reliable and will strive to serve all his constituents. Ed realizes how important it is to find a solution to rising property taxes and will examine all avenues for increasing state contributions to municipalities as possibilities for school funding. He strongly supports funding public schools with a more equitable distribution of state funding. He will protect women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights, support unions and all working families, and work on energy conservation initiatives as well as protecting our environment. Vote for Ed Friedrich to represent Loudon and Canterbury on Nov. 5.
