Vote no on SB 193

The Legislature is considering a bill (Senate Bill 193) that would allow for disbursement of state funds to pay tuition for private schools, including prep schools, and homeschooling. The state money would be dispersed through a non-regulated organization. This bill should be voted down. It will take needed money away from our local communities, where people have been working hard to invest in and support their public schools. This bill would result in an increase in our already high property taxes as towns will see a reduction in state support for public schools.

New Hampshire has a long history of providing a strong public education system. In 2017, our little state had 20 of the approximately 600 silver level U.S. News Best High Schools, as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. (Only about 140 schools got ranked as gold level nationwide.)

We must continue to take pride in and support our local schools. Please contact your state representative and ask them to vote no on SB 193.
