Some downtown businesses had to close early Thursday due to a water main break on S. Main Street.

Gibson’s Cafe and Constantly Pizza both lost water pressure after the break, which occurred around noon, and shut early. Gibson’s Bookshop has remained open.

The break occurred in front of the Capitol Center for the Arts, but no shows will be affected, the center said.

The break apparently happened when a seal between two sections of pipe gave way underneath the southbound lane of South Main Street.
