A fire destroyed a garage in Webster on Monday night and spread to another structure on the same property.

At 7:37 p.m., the Webster Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a building fire along Dear Meadow Road.

Emmett Bean, Webster’s fire chief, said he arrived at the scene within four minutes to find a large garage fully engulfed and the roof already collapsed. The fire soon spread to another garage approximately 40 feet away, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze.

“It was a total loss, the first garage,” Bean said. “We saved the second garage.”

The 15-acre property has multiple structures, including a 62-foot-by-22 foot garage and several large sheds or barns, according the town’s assessment database. The land and raised-ranch style home are owned by William Tracy.

Fire departments from Concord, Boscawen, Salisbury, Penacook and Bow reported to the fire, which Bean said was contained and fully extinguished within three to four hours thanks to their help.

Temperatures on Monday night were still in the mid-80s with high humidity when the call came in. The heat from the fire and the physical strain of carrying hoses can lead to firefighter exhaustion in some situations.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
