A Webster man was indicted on Thursday in connection with two pipe bomb explosions in Weare last spring that injured one, state officials said.

On April 26 and April 27, Dale Stewart Jr., 54, allegedly constructed and dentonated two destructive devices along roadways in Weare. In response to the explosions, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for his vehicle and retrieved a third destructive device made of the same material and explosive matter consistent with the two recovered pipe bombs, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

Stewart was subsequently charged with three counts of possessing an unregistered firearm, specifically a destructive device. If convicted, he could face up to three 10 year sentences in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 per charge.

A judge ordered Stewart remain held without bail pending a mental health evaluation.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation with assistance from the Weare Police Department, the Federal Protective Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Hampshire State Police.
