Let’s stop further contamination

My relationship to the talented home of Bethlehem began in 1985, when my wife and I purchased a small piece of land, less than two acres. We are about a mile from the NCES landfill, and there have been many discussions between the citizens and taxpayers of Bethlehem over the next forty years. I currently work overseas for a NATO member country’s Department of Defense. Our only home in the USA is in Bethlehem, about a mile from the NCES landfill.

The people of Bethlehem town voted about 17 times to prohibit expansion. I have been informed that the only time there was a vote to allow 10 more acres was in 2012 when Casella and its successors and assigns entered into an agreement that they would not expand further. Citizens seek to be protected from further harm. A great man from Meredith and famous Republican, Carl Johnson Sr., stated that the State of New Hampshire was aware of the problem in the 80s.

It is the duty of the state to honor agreements made in good faith between parties to ensure residents are protected. When I have tried to sit on my porch and have a morning coffee, I often have to race back inside due to the offensive odors and am overwhelmed with a gas giving me a severe headache and almost knocking me out. Please use your influence to stop the surprise hidden amendment that has nothing to do with budgetary matters. Help us stop further contamination.
