Fischer Arts, an art gallery, was recently opened by Iris Fischer-McMorrow of Henniker. It is currently online, and specializes in antique, vintage, and contemporary art inspired by the beauty of the natural world. Fischer Arts has deep roots in the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire, and the business has a  mission grounded by a love for the natural resources around us - in the beautiful state of New Hampshire and beyond. It has a passion for conservation and preservation, and a deep appreciation for art and artisans. A portion of its proceeds are donated to organizations working to protect fragile ecosystems and protect wildlife, including The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, The Nature Conservancy and New Hampshire Audubon.

Ocean State Job Lot will distribute up to $3.4 million worth of additional PPE to school systems in the 142 communities where Ocean State Job Lot stores are located across the Northeast through the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation.  The donations include pallets of PPE including face shields, antibacterial and disinfecting hand wipes, and hand sanitizer, for a total retail value of up to $24,000 to each community.

Bangor Savings Bank is the winner of the 2021 Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Award from the Diversity Workforce Coalition.  The other three finalists were BAE Systems, Mascoma Bank, and Port City Pretzels. Given the significant events transpiring across the country, the bank’s DEI efforts increased in 2020.  Notable accomplishments include a high level of employee engagement, multiple initiatives on race and equity, robust professional development programs, pay equity, and virtual DEI training programs in light of the pandemic.  The bank has also created an employee DEI Council with 17 members from different backgrounds and departments across the organization.
