Letter: An easy fix

As a former federal employee, I am almost in despair watching our government leaders dismantle our relevance. Yet, with each day that Elon Musk waves his middle finger at Americans, we begin to better understand how his politics — the politics of obscenely wealthy people — cannot be allowed to un-do this democracy. I dare say that Musk has made it very clear that our government can be bought. Americans are beginning to wake up now, and collectively, we can deluge our members of Congress with demands to end money in politics. We need not be of a political persuasion to enjoy common decency and deploy civil debate to achieve something greater. I want a voice! I want to be heard! I insist that our congress begin to undress the gaudy thing that is money for hire.
