■Education for Good: Over the last year, members of the Franklin school community have attended site visits and conferences across the country to learn how others are doing high school differently with great results. On Jan. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m., we are hosting an opportunity to learn about some of these schools and programs through short videos, a panel discussion and individual conversations with members of the Franklin school community including students, parents, teachers and administrators. ■The Franklin School Board meets on Jan. 16 in the high school cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Visit sau18.org for past agenda, minutes and more.

■The Franklin Planning Board will conduct a public hearing Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. to take citizen input on whether to amend the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map to establish Ground Water Protection regulations and boundaries. Copies of the proposed changes will be available in the Planning/Zoning Dept located in the at 124 Memorial St. and/or at franklinnh.org. Members of the public are invited to attend public hearings, ask questions or speak on the foregoing proposal. Written comments are welcome for those who cannot attend either by emailing screighton@franklinnh.org or by mail to the Franklin Planning Department,, 316 Central St., Franklin, NH 03235.

■The Annual Murder Mystery Dessert Theatre, presented by Franklin Footlight Theatre, returns from Feb. 10 to 11. This popular fundraiser for the Opera House is very popular so tickets should be purchased in advance. This year’s presentation is “Murder on the Oriental Rug.” Visit franklinoperahouse.org to reserve your seats.

■The Franklin Junior Youth Group for youth in Grades 6, 7 and 8 (ages 11 to 14) meets most Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. Make friends in a supportive environment; develop powers of expression and confidence; strengthen your moral identity and discover your potential to be an agent of positive change.
