Winter Carnival

■Kick off the 61st Annual Franklin Winter Carnival which begins on Feb. 4 with Broom Ball at 1 p.m., snowshoe hike at 6 p.m. and bonfire with a hot cocoa party at 6 p.m. On Feb. 5 there will be a breakfast at the elks from 7 to 10:30 a.m. and an obstacle course at noon. Winter Carnival activities run through March 5, so watch for weekly updates. Visit franklinoutingclub.org/winter-carnival for more information.

■Affordable Hearing LLC with be at the TRIP Center on Feb. 2 at 10:45 a.m. for free hearing evaluations. Call (603) 934-4151 with any questions.

■It’s time to register youngsters for kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. If your child will be five years old by Sept. 30, please call Paul Smith School at (603) 934-4155 to begin the process.

■The Zoning Board meets on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Visit franklinnh.org for the agenda and past minutes.

■Franklin Girls Softball is now accepting registrations for Spring 2023. Register online at www.FranklinGirlsSoftballNH.com or stop by the Proulx Center on Sundays from 8:30 to 10 a.m. to register in-person. Cost is $35 for 6U and $50 for 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U. Open for all girls, from any town/city in New Hampshire, ages four to 14. We will be accepting registrations until March 14. ■The speakers at the Rotary Club noontime meeting on Feb. 1 will be the FHS Adventure Club. Bring a bagged lunch and enjoy the program.

■Meals-on-Wheels delivers a midday meal to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities Monday through Friday. Cal the TRIP Center at (603) 934-4151 for more information.

■Franklin is seeking an additional representative to serve on the Upper Merrimack River Local Advisory Committee. If you have an interest in protecting the Merrimack River and reducing the ecological impact of projects proposed within a quarter mile of the river, contact Wayne.Ives@des.nh.gov.
