Winter Carnival

■Week two of Winter Carnival activities: Feb. 11 (ski and snowboard races at 11 a.m., and chili cook-off from noon to 2 p.m.), Feb. 12 (Superbowl Sunday! Represent your favorite sports team. Chuck a Duck at 2 p.m., $5 per duck, and the duck closest to the target wins half of the proceeds. Must be present to throw the duck at the target.) ■City Council meets on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Visit franklinnh.org for the agenda and to access past minutes.

■The Rotary Club on Feb. 8 at noon hosts the American Red Cross discussing combined Blood Drive with the Franklin Elks Lodge #1280 scheduled on March 31 from noon to 5 p.m., at the Franklin Elks Lodge on South Main Street. Contact s4stanleys@gmail.com for more information.

■The 44th Annual Webster Lake Fishing Derby takes place on Feb. 18 and 19. To pre-register and for more information, visit websterlakeicefishingderby.com. Pre-buy price: adults are $12 and youth are $5.

■Franklin Savings Bank is an ongoing collection site for non-perishable food items to support individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. All items will be donated to our local food pantries. We invite you to drop your donations off at both the downtown office and the branch at 387 Central St. Together, we will spread the love to our neighbors in need!

■A Grief Support Group at the Franklin VNA & Hospice will begin on March 29 and continue through April 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. You are welcome whether you are the caregiver, family member, friend or community member. This is a free offering but does require pre-registration. Participants are generally ready for the class if at least three to six months has passed since the death of a loved one. ■The Franklin Democratic Committee will meet on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom to elect officers for the new election period. This meeting is open to all registered Democrats in Franklin. People to serve on the following committees are also welcome: Communications; Membership; Visibility; Recruitment; Legislative; Legislative Action and Fundraising. ■The Book Club which meets at Franklin Public Library on the second Thursday of the month, will meet on Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. to discuss The Patchwork Bride by Sandra Dallas. The book for March will be available at that time.

■The Franklin Public Library Board of Trustees meets on Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. All are welcome. Handicapped access is at the rear of the building, off Memorial Street. Call (603) 934-2911 with any questions.

■The Franklin Opera House Board of Directors meets on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the lower conference room at City Hall. Enter through the back door off the parking lot. If you will need handicap access, call (603) 934-1901 in advance for assistance.

■In accordance with the provision of Chapter 31, Division 2 of the Franklin Municipal Code, notice is hereby given that the City of Franklin will hold a Public Hearing on on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at Franklin City Hall regarding Resolution #15-23, appropriating $60,000 from sale of 599 So. Main Street for the City Hall building assessment and code analysis. Provisions for persons with special needs can be made by contacting the City Manager’s office, via telephone or mail at least five days prior to the public hearing.

■Elks Breakfast is served every other Sunday, for Feb. 5 and 19, from 7 to 10:30 a.m., for $10.
