Now that Concord’s city mask mandate and New Hampshire’s state-wide mask mandate has lapsed, decisions about face coverings are entirely left to individuals and business owners.

For now, as mask rules remain uneven – even across neighboring stores, city officials have recommended that Concord shoppers carry a mask in their pockets, as they would their wallets or keys.

Here is a list of some of Concord’s businesses and where they fall on mask-wearing:

Concord Farmers Market: Market-goers are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings when a 6-feet of social distancing can’t be maintained, but masks are not required.

The Works Cafe: Masks are optional for unvaccinated and vaccinated patrons alike

Concord Food Co-op: On Tuesday and Thursday between 7 and 8 a.m. and on Sunday between 9 and 10 a.m. all shoppers must wear masks to protect high-risk patrons. Outside of those hours, unvaccinated people are required to wear masks and vaccinated patrons are encouraged to wear masks. Vaccination status is on the honor system.

Market Basket: Vaccinated shoppers no longer need to wear a face covering while unvaccinated are still required to. Vaccination status is on the honor system.

Joe King’s Shoe Shop: Masks are recommended but not required for all.

Tucker’s: Unvaccinated diners are still asked to mask up when they are not at their table while vaccinated people are no longer required to don face coverings. Vaccination status is on the honor system.

Merrimack County Savings Bank: Masks are currently required for all patrons.

Lucky’s Barber Shop: Masks are no longer required but those who feel more comfortable with a masked barber can sign up for a “haircut with mask” appointment online at

Cheers: Masks are optional for unvaccinated and vaccinated patrons alike.

Flora’s Hair Salon: Unvaccinated clients are still asked to wear masks, though vaccination status is on the honor system. Customers can request that their stylist wears a mask during their appointment.

Trend Acupuncture: All customers are asked to wear masks in common areas until they are seated for treatment.

Concord YMCA: All members are asked to wear masks as they walk through common areas of the building. Once members start exercising, they can remove their masks.
