The intersection of Mountain and Hoit roads in north Concord will be turned into a four-way stop next week, as traffic in the area shifts following the opening of the nearby Merchant’s Way development.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will be installing additional stop signs and road markings at the intersection of Route 132 (Mountain Road) with Hoit Road on Tuesday, adding stop signs on Mountain Road. Currently, there are stop signs only on Hoit Road.

“The goal of this project is to improve overall driver safety by reducing the number and severity of motor vehicle collisions,” the DOT wrote in a press release.  The work is weather dependent and will require short-duration lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Hoit Road crosses over I-93 at Exit 17, where the Merchant’s Way development that opened last year has increased the traffic flow.
