Recently, one of the Chichester Town Library’s little patrons, Emlyn Mailhot, received a big honor before the end of the year in 2019: she read over a thousand books before Kindergarten.

The library would like to congratulate her and her monumental achievement.  She signed up for this program, called “1,000 books before Kindergarten,” earlier in the year.  During the last year, she would come regularly to the library to check out books to read, she always kept track of all her books on a sheet the library provided.

One of her favorite books is Lulu is a Rhinoceros by Jason Flum.

The program is an early literacy initiative that encourages families to read to their young children and to use the resources of their public libraries.
