Join Boscawen for a spooktacular day of fun and community bonding at the Boscawen Economic Development Commission’s inaugural “Pumpkin Ride and Walk” on Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located at the entrance of the Northern Rail Trail in Boscawen at Jamie Welch Park, Depot Street, in Boscawen, this event promises a delightful experience for both kids and adults. Embrace the Halloween spirit by donning your favorite costume and embarking on the “Boscawen Challenge,” a scenic 12-mile loop (bike or walk) along the Rail Trail, starting at 10 a.m.

Need a quick bike fix before you ride? They’ve got you covered with a Bike Repair workshop also starting at 10 a.m. at the new Rail Trail Kiosk and bike repair station.

Want something with a shorter distance? Come join for a 1-mile rail trail history walk with the Boscawen Historical Society and the Friends of the Rail Trail along the trail at noon.

For the little ones (and the young at heart), a free pumpkin painting craft workshop kicks off at 11 a.m. Plus, don’t miss the adorable kids’ costume walk at 1 p.m., featuring Instagram-worthy photo opportunities at every turn.

Drop a tailgate and enjoy the foliage. No need to pack a lunch, they’ve gathered some fantastic Boscawen-based food and drink vendors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a delicious selection of treats from local businesspeople including Kate’s Confections, Batulo’s Kitchen, Richardson’s Farm and Fresh Start Farms.

There will be fall photo opportunities along the rail trail sponsored by Black Forest Nursery and Highway View Farm.

In the evening bring your pom poms to cheer on your favorite team from 4-6 p.m., the Second annual Police Versus Fire Softball Game will be held at Jamie Welch Park. Food will be available from Teenie Weinies Food Truck at the event, so stay for dinner. This event is a fundraiser for the Boscawen Parks and Rec Program.
