Concord, Merrimack Valley at Londonderry Invitational

Highlights: The Tide won all three relays at the 20-plus team Londonderry Invitational against mostly Division I teams. Chelsea Toenah, Goulas, Conteh and Saysaw won the 4x100; Muller, Conteh, Saysaw and Yahya formed the winning 4x400 and Doherty, Burdette, Gualtieri and Yahya claimed the victory in the 4x800. Concord is ranked first in seven of 18 events heading into this weekend’s D-I championship.

Highlights: Lane, Murdough, Upton and Bove ran a D-III record-setting 4x800 in 9:41.73 as the Hawks (101.5) finished second at the 13-team Monadnock Twilight Meet under the lights in Swanzey. Bellows Falls, Vt. (129) won the meet, with Bow (95.25), Monadnock (51), Stevens (50) and John Stark (35) rounding out the top six.

Highlights: The Bears tied for the top Division II team and tied for fourth overall at the Seacoast Championships at Exeter High School on Friday. Portsmouth (95), Winnacunnet (90), Exeter (66), Coe-Brown (65) and Oyster River (65) were the top five team scores out of the 15 that competed. Lee, Ethan Newick, Szatko and Travis Schultz were the winning 4x100 team in 44.86 seconds.
Concord 7, Manchester Central-West 2

Highlights: Central scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Concord answered with three in the bottom of the first and scored seven unanswered runs to claim the vicotry on senior night. Turant hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first, and Simms and Rossetti both had RBI singles. Burbank had an RBI double in the seventh inning, and Barry and Williams added RBI singles to put the game away.

The Cardinals responded with eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs to secure the win.

Highlights: The Cardinals pitching staff struggled to find the strike zone, leading to several walks, followed by timely hits by Hopkinton to score runs in bunches. Johnson pitched a near-perfect game, allowing one hit, but that batter was thrown out later in the inning on a double play turned by Zoey Freitas.

Highlights: The Hawks’ offense put up six goals in the first quarter and added to their lead throughout the game. Pembroke’s defense was able to hold Hopkinton to three goals in both the second and third quarters, but the Hawks opened it up in the fourth quarter. Hopkinton’s defense had clear eyes and quick feet and limited Pembroke’s chances.
