Surrounded by their families, friends and scores of Market Days well-wishers, Cady Hickman and Cameron Green tied the knot in front of the State House on Friday evening.

The idea of a Market Days marriage started as a running joke at InTown Concord, the nonprofit hosting the three-day festival. But over the winter, organizers began to seriously contemplate the concept: Why not hold a free wedding sponsored by the community?

Hickman and Green were among nine couples to apply for the Market Days Marriage. Ahead of the wedding, the pair shared that they couldn’t think of a more fun way to celebrate their special day with the Concord community.

Many business contributors – from Social Club Creamery providing an ice cream cake to The Hotel Concord offering the newlyweds a wedding night hotel room – gave the happy couple the gift of having the wedding they never knew they dreamed of.

Hickman and Green radiated love as they said their vows and proceeded down Main Street in a New Orleans-style parade.
