Boscawen ‘Fishy’ Make & Take at Twiggs Gallery

Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen will be offering a free paper crafting Make & Take on Saturday, June 10. Drop in anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. to make a fun and fancy paper fish. It’s the perfect Saturday activity to do with the family. Twiggs Gallery will have all of the supplies you need to make this “fishy” craft. Twiggs Gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that offers regional art exhibitions, adult art classes and community events. The gallery is handicapped accessible and located at 254 King Street, Jct. Rte 3 & 4, in Boscawen. Hours are Thursday-Friday 11-4 and Saturday 12-4. TwiggsGallery.org

Newbury Summer Concert Series: Dominique Dodge, Harpist

Dominique Dodge is a harpist and singer from New Hampshire’s White Mountains who maintains strong ties to Cape Breton. Her 2019 album, “Cànan nan Teud” (The Language of the Strings) features Gaelic songs from Cape Breton and explores the relationship between Puirt-à-Beul (mouth music) and traditional dance tunes. A Fulbright Scholar and 2012 graduate of the University of Limerick with an MA in Irish Music Performance, Dominique also holds a BA Honors in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. In addition to her work as a highly regarded performing artist, Dominique is a fluent learner of Scottish Gaelic and an experienced traditional arts educator. The event will be held on Sunday, June 11, from 5-7 p.m. We encourage you to please bring your own picnic to enjoy as you listen to the music. $35 per person. Manchester Black Heritage Trail Juneteenth Celebration

We are proud and excited to announce the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire’s Juneteenth 2023 Celebration Programming. It runs June 10-19, 2023, and is highlighted by art exhibits, panels, historic walking tours, musical performances and a first-ever Reggae Festival with an amazing line-up. This truly is a remarkable one-of-a-kind regional arts program honoring our history, recognizing our present, and building bridges for our future. On Wednesday, June 14, a panel discussion entitled “Still, Uprooted? Heartache and Hope in New Hampshire,” will be held at the Currier Museum in Manchester. The discussion will highlight the experiences of displaced people coming from war torn countries and their journey to finding home and a sense of belonging in our state.
