Highlights: The Little Green scored first to go up 6-0 with 10:57 left in the first half, but the Tide scored the next 34 points to go up 34-6.

Stevens 32, Kearsarge 8

Highlights: The Cougars remain winless and near the bottom of the Division III standings following a loss to the Cardinals.

Somersworth 50, Franklin 6

Highlights:  The Tornadoes found the endzone against the Hilltoppers, the first team this season to do so, but defending champions Somersworth came away with a decisive victory.

Bass Fishing

State qualifier

Highlights:  Bow (sixth), Kearsarge (eighth) and Hillsboro-Deering (12th) all qualified for the state championship thanks to finishing in the top 12 at Thursday’s qualifer at Center Harbor. The championship will be on Sept. 30 at Spofford Lake in Chesterfield, Vt. Mascoma, Windham and White Mountains were the top three teams. Coe-Brown (13th), Merrimack Valley (19th), John Stark (29th) also competed in the 34-team field.

Girls’ Soccer

Bow 2, Merrimack Valley 0

Key players: Bow – Brylie Gelinas (first varsity goal), Cara Van Dyke (goal), Leah Gallier (assist), Lexi Insana (assist), Bridget Hilton (shutout)

Highlights: Gallier played a nice ball into the box that Gelinas got in the box and rifled a shot in the side netting with two seconds left in the half. Insana played a through ball to Van Dyke, who just beat the keeper to the ball, calmly making another touch and passing it into the net nine minutes into the second half.

Coach’s quote: “The girls came to play today, did an excellent job hunting for the ball today on defense, the best so far this year. We beat a very good and well coached MV team today, their third game in four days. We are making progress and starting to find our identity.” – Bow’s Jay Vogt

Key players: Pembroke – Laila Al-Shawafi (shutout), Lily Royer (first varsity goal), Lily Ricci (2 assists), Bailey Gatchell (2 goals), Guiliana Davis (defense), Zoey Mayeu (defense), Abby Shaugnessy (defense), Mackenzie Hawkins (defense), Layla Thorn (defense).

Highlights: The Spartans snapped a 0-0 tie in the second half, scoring three goals in the second half in a tight match against a strong Lebanon side.

Coach’s quote: “We needed this today. We have been playing hard, but haven’t been completing what we set out to do. Today, it felt great to notch one in the win column against a competitive and well-coached Lebanon team. Highlights: The Giants fell to the Wildcats on Thursday night.

Boys’ Soccer

Coe-Brown 3, Souhegan 2

Key players: Coe-Brown – Ryan Kouchoukos (goal, center midfield), Steven Phillips (9 saves), Brady Colgan (goal), Tommy Maskwa (goal)

Highlights: The Bears went up 1-0 right before half, but Souhegan responded with two quick goals in the second half. Coe-Brown responded in the 65th minute with a goal off a penalty kick and again with the go-ahead goal with under five minutes to play.

Coach’s quote: “To say we were out of sorts for portions of the game would be an understatement. We are already hobbled with four original starters out, but a lot of the disjointedness was my fault. We tried a more defensive-minded formation but were hemmed in badly for the first 20 minutes of the game. We were lucky not to have two goals put away in that time, thanks to some acrobatic goalmouth saves by Steven Phillips. When we shifted formations, we were disorganized and even subbed off one two many players on multiple occasions. In hindsight, it was too much to ask of a squad in which a number of kids were playing out of position and others were getting used to playing at the varsity level. We will stabilize that for the next week. In the end, we were impressed by our guys because they never quit. They don’t go away; they just keep working and finding ways.” – Coe-Brown’s Christian Gompert

Field Hockey

Bow 1, Merrimack Valley 0

Key players: MV – Taylor Gionet (7 saves), Kaiya Mercier (midfield), Lauren Bailey (midfield), Hannah Butler (offensive pressure)

Highlights: Bow scored three minutes into the first quarter, but the game was even after that. MV fought through 16 offensive corners and increased its opportunities for attack in the second half, but could not capitalize.

Coach’s quote: “Tough loss today to a talented Bow team. We dug ourselves into a hole pretty early and could never climb out of it. I’m proud of the adjustments we made a the half and the increase in offensive pressure we created because of those adjustments. However, we need to capitalize on opportunities in the circle during these one-goal games.” – MV’s Jen Colgan

Girls’ Volleyball

Gilford 3, Winnisquam 1

Key players: Winnisquam  – Triniti Carter (11 kills, 3 digs, 3 aces), Lucy Prunier (17 assists, 6 digs, 3 aces), Caiden Carter (4 kills, 11 digs), Bella Dill (11 digs, 2 aces)

Highlights: Gilford went on a run to close out the first set that was tied at 19-19, but finished 25-19. The Eagles carried that momentum into the second set, building an 18-4 lead. Winnisquam managed to battle back to 22-15, before Gilford won set two, 25-19. Winnisquam led most of set three, pulling out a 25-21 win. Gilford pulled away in the fourth set, to secure the match with a 25-15 victory.

Coach’s quote: “Despite losing the match, I was pleased as the team played some of its best volleyball of the season. Hopefully we can build of this match going forward.” – Winnisquam’s Mike Livernois

Highlights: Barker found the back of the net during a penalty corner to give Pembroke a big win over Lebanon on Friday night.
