Highlights:  The Giants and Bears kept things close against one of the strongest programs in Division III at Apple Hill Golf Club.

Field Hockey

Concord 5, Manchester Central-West 0

Key players: Concord – Ally McGonigle (2 goals, 2 assists), Lilly Merrill (2 goals), Elliana Wing (first varsity goal)

Highlights: Wing collected a rebound off the Manchester goalie’s pad and put the ball in the cage for her first varsity goal. Nadia Hanna, Amy Desrochers and Emma Pelletier controlled the middle of the field. Anya Kendziora and Lexi Magee did a great job keeping Manchester’s right side of the field at bay.

Highlights: Winnisquam won the battle of the two Bear squads, 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.

Boys’ Soccer

Manchester Central 4, Concord 2

Key players: Concord – Benjamin Hughes (goal), Bronson Becker (assist), Festo Bahininwa (10 saves), Dean Ayotte (midfield), Irankunda Mvuyekure (forward)

Highlights: Concord trailed 1-0 early, but Hughes scored the equalizer off a through ball from Becker, and pressure from Hughes and Mvuyekure up front forced Central to give up an own goal to give the Tide a 2-1 halftime lead. The Little Green scored three goals in the second half to claim the win. Bahininwa made several outstanding saves while filling in for injured starting goalkeeper, Matthew Jenness.

Key players: MV – Ashlyn Fortier (3 goals), Corinne Palhof (2 goals), Jules Palhof (goal), Izzy Navoy (goal), Sierra Mercer (goal), Taiylor Stinson (goal), Sydney Bailey (2 assists)

Highlights: The Pride got on the board early and surpassed its season-high mark of two goals a game by halftime. MV controlled possession and took advantage of chances in the attacking third in the second half, while a scrappy Plymouth team picked up a couple chances in the Pride’s defensive end.
