Poetry night

What: Poetry night with readings by special guest poet, Melanie Chicione and this year’s contest winners. Melanie Chicoine is an active member of several poetry groups and organizations in and around New England; her poems have appeared in numerous publications and Melanie is currently serving as president on the Board of Directors for the Poetry Society of New Hampshire (PSNH), and was a recent chief editor of PSNH’s literary journal, The Poets’ Touchstone.

When: April 7, at 5:30 p.m.

“NEST” call for submissions

What: Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen invites New Hampshire artists to enter artwork inspired by nests or nesting for Twiggs summer juried exhibition “NEST.” Points of inspiration might include bird, insect and animal nests; family and home; comfort and retreat; the nesting of objects; and organizing hierarchies.

When: Now through April 23

What: Before the accident, painting was the only way for Rawls to feel himself, the only way for him to understand the world. Every flick of the hand or drag of the brush told part of his story. Now his wrist won’t move, and he doesn’t know what comes next. He doesn’t know who he is. And while he tries to see the world in black and white... he can’t keep the colors from creeping. In the midst of the most serious challenge Life has ever thrown at him, Rawls navigates family relationships and discovers the healing power of a new friend.

When: April 7 to 22 , Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
