Letter: Out of touch senator

In the Monitor’s recent article about school budget cap proposals, GOP Sena. Dan Innis warned that the resounding opposition to local school budget caps in the state could prompt backlash, ensuring the passage of universal educational freedom accounts. He then threatened to take the measly $5,000 per-pupil funding away immediately. What it appears the voters in Kearsarge were saying with their resounding vote was that, if the proposal passed, they did not believe the resulting per-pupil expense would provide an adequate education. The message being sent to the state by these voters appears to be just the opposite of what Sen. Innis thinks. The message is that $5,000 per pupil is not enough to fund an adequate education and that the state should increase per-pupil state aid.
