LACONIA – Coe-Brown senior defenseman Joey Alie was injured for the Division III state championship. Like many of the Bears’ seniors, for those who helped build a winning culture and led the team to its first state title game in program history, the loss to Plymouth hurt.

Before the start of the playoffs, Coe-Brown’s coach Tony DePalma was taking his team through the motions of staying undefeated, one game at a time. Through seven years with the boys’ lacrosse program, he was still hunting for the first postseason win. Finally, he’s led the Bears to their first state championship game with a win over the Hopkinton Hawks, 14-7.

The Coe-Brown softball team trusted its bats from beginning to end to outscore Merrimack Valley in the Division II semifinals on Wednesday. An eight-run first inning and a seven-run sixth saw the Bears run away and move on to the state finals.
