As warmer weather and longer daylight hours arrive, it’s a great time to consider training for your first spring 5K! Completing a 5K, which is 3.1 miles long, is an achievable goal for anyone interested in running or walking. If you’re in the Concord area, you’re fortunate to be part of one of the best running communities in the country, with 5K events and running opportunities available every week.
A new opportunity for community service is taking root as a group of local residents works to establish a Lions Club serving Tilton, Northfield, and Sanbornton. The effort is being led by passionate volunteers who see a need—and an opportunity—to strengthen the fabric of the community through service, outreach, and fellowship.
In honor of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, residents, staff, vendors, families and friends of Havenwood Heritage Heights, a faith-based continuing care retirement community spanning two campuses in Concord, will join 192 other countries to not only observe Earth Day but to make a difference. This will include a full community event to jump-start the landscaping season, including raking, spreading dirt, mulching and a general clean-up.
Hiroya Tsukamoto is a Japanese-born fingerstyle guitarist who moved to the United States in 2000 to attend the Berklee College of Music. Hiroya is a one-of-a-kind composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter. Franklin Opera House is pleased to welcome him back again for the third time on Saturday, April 12.

The book, titled “A Universe of Rainbows: Multicolored Poems for a Multicolored World,” is illustrated by artist Jamey Christoph, based in Cornish. The anthology, which includes poems from many well-known children’s poets, combines poetry with science and nature.

Get ready comic book fans! The Douglas Everett Arena in Concord will transform into a paradise of rare comic books when Jason Brodnick brings his Old School Comic Show to town on Saturday, April 5. This once-a-year all-day event, founded in 2018, is expected to attract attendees from as nearby as Concord and as far away as France, Australia and Singapore.

Plan NH is excited to announce that applications are open for the Scholarship and Fellowship Program. This program includes the Plan NH Fellowship Fund, the Alfred T. The New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival is offering its audiences a choice between virtual and in-theater screenings this year as it brings its international lineup to Red River Theaters in Concord, alongside other locations across the state. The multi-access festival, which will screen independent and foreign films through April 6, includes selections from England, Finland, France, Israel and the United States.
