The twice-annual auction of surplus government property returns this weekend at White Farm in Concord, with a new twist: big items like trucks will be sold in person on Saturday, while smaller items will be sold online starting Monday.

The auction, held each spring and fall, sells hundreds of used or unneeded items from state and municipal governments. Items range from kayaks to mailboxes, filing cabinets to eyewash stations, lamposts to a volleyball net but the bulk of the sale involves cars, trucks and construction vehicles as large as front-end loaders.

Some eye-catching items for sale include snowmobiles, ATVs and at least one boat. Equipment can be previewed at the Clinton Street property from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday

Vehicles and large equipment will be sold as usual in a live auction. Bidder registration starts at 7 a.m. at White Farm, 144 Clinton St. The auction starts at 8:30.

Items kept inside the barn area, including furniture and tools, will not be sold live but will be sold via an online auction called the “NH State Surplus Blowout,” that begins Monday and ends Wednesday, May 31 at 4 p.m.

Registrations for the online auction and a list of items will be available Monday.

The auction is run by JSJ Auctions. For details and a catalogue, see jsjauctions.com/listings/new-hampshire-state-surplus-live-auction/

Items that are purchase at either the live or online auctions must be picked up within a day or two of the final sale.
