The Allenstown Town Office will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
Public notice for the Town of Allenstown time limit of declaration of candidacy for the 2025 Election of town officers. The filing period begins Wednesday and ends Jan. 31. Written declaration of candidacy must be filed with the Allenstown Town Clerk prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 31 for your name to appear on the official town ballot. The Allenstown deliberative session will be held on Feb. 1 at 9 a.m. at the Allenstown Community School, 171 River Road. The Allenstown town elections will be held March 11, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Knights of Columbus dinner will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18 starting at 5 p.m. and will be serving a Lasagna Dinner at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall, 10 School St.
The St. John the Baptist Community Table will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Parish Hall. They will be serving a chicken rice casserole.
The Suncook Senior Center will be closed on Monday for Martin Luther King Day.
Suncook Senior Center events: All-Day Bingo on Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. with the cost of $12 per person and lunch will be at noon. The cost price does not include the cost of the meals.

Bingo for adults will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Alan’s Restaurant (rescheduled from Jan. 12). For $10 per person, attendees can enjoy lunch at 1 p.m. and stay for an afternoon of fun and games until 3:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Old Home Day activities and there will not be any prizes.

The Bow Garden Club invites you to join its club in 2025 as they plan educational programs and beautify the town. Membership is $25 and applications are available on its website at https://bowgardenclub.org. No need to be a great gardener, come learn with them about gardening and nature. Their next program will be held on April 14 at the Baker Free Library on “What’s Wild in New Hampshire” presented by Eric Orff. Registration will be on the library website starting in March.

The Chichester Fire Department along with mutual aid partners from around the area participated in a live fire acquired structure training burn hosted by the Loudon Fire Department. Chichester Fire Department is looking for members to join the department and use these valuable resources for training. The department meets every Monday evening and welcomes everyone to see what is happening to make becoming a member easy. All ages are welcome.
The Chichester Highway Department is working to keep our roads safe for us to travel. Passing plow/salt trucks on our narrow roads is risking our lives and the truck drivers’ lives. We are all urged to give them room to do their jobs.
Cold weather is hard on our fuel budget. Do you need heating assistance? The Community Action Program which is supported by our tax dollars can help you keep warm. With the passing of Jimmy Carter we all heard about his excellent work with Habitat for Humanity. The NH Capital Region Habitat for Humanity improves lives in 24 communities. Chichester is one of those 24 communities that are served providing many to live safely and with dignity. On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Gibson’s Bookstore, 45 South Main St., Amanda Grappone Osmer, the last Grappone family member working in Grappone Automotive Group (now in its 100th year of business), presents her new book of biography and local history, Grappone Automotive: The Founding, sharing the story of two immigrants, Rocco Grappone and Emanuela D’Orlando, who purchased a small filling station as the automobile craze swept through New Hampshire in the 1920s.
The New Hampshire Historical Society’s staff has been touring the state and sharing a collection of stories as virtual lectures that capture the iconic spirit of New Hampshire. The Franklin Outing Club received a grant of $9,000 from Franklin Savings Bank to expand their snowmaking capabilities. This will enable them to expand their winter offerings. The Outing Club has operated Veteran’s Memorial Recreation Area for over 60 years. This generous grant will allow for a greater number of days of activities throughout the winter.

The Pembroke Democrats will hold a caucus on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pembroke Town Hall. The purpose of the caucus is to elect officers and at-large delegates to the Democratic conventions. All registered Democrats in Pembroke are welcome to attend and vote. Join Melissa Elsman, contralto, and Mike Ring, pianist, as they present “La Femme Valliante: Reviving the Remarkable Musical Legacy of Augusta Holmès”, on Friday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m., at the Penacook Library and Activity Center, 76 Community Drive.
