Take Me Out to the Ball Game using 1860s-style game play will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Pine Haven Boys Center, 133 River Road. The Allenstown Historical Society is sponsoring this vintage baseball game between the Dirigo Baseball Club of Holliston, Mass. and the Mudville Baseball Club of Maine. This is a free event. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and the Allenstown Firefighters Association will have a food concession there.
Dinner and a free movie will be held at the Allenstown Fire Department on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 5 p.m. Disney movie Elemental will play. Sponsored by the Allenstown Firefighters Association and the Economic Development Comm.
St. John the Baptist Community Table will be held on Sept. 24 in the Parish Hall at 5 p.m. and serving a chicken rice casserole.
St. John the Baptist Penny Sale and Harvest Bazaar will be held on Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members will hold a children’s carnival, raffles, bake sale, candy shop, snack bar, plus the famous Knights of Columbus spaghetti supper on Saturday.
The Suncook Senior Center on Thursday at 9 a.m. will hold a Harvest Party to celebrate the season change. Other senior center events:
Hand, Foot and Elbow Game will be held on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. This new game is a lot of fun.
Bone Builders is held from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Monday and Wednesday.

Bow Rotary auction seeks donations to support community scholarships and camperships. Bow Rotary is looking for local businesses to support its upcoming scholarship auction. This year’s theme is “Reaching for the Stars.” Money raised through the auction goes toward scholarships, financial support for children attending camp and also supports community projects. Elkins Public Library Speaker Series:
Wednesday at 6 p.m.: The Common Loon: A New Hampshire Icon with Lynda Moore. Please join Lynda Moore, wildlife biologist and current member of LPC’s education and outreach staff, for an informative one-hour presentation. The Loon Preservation Committee (LPC) works to preserve loons and their habitats in NH through programs of monitoring, research, management, and public education. This program is in the Old Town Hall.
Town Tidbits: Chichester Road Agent reported that crack sealing of roads is completed. Roadside mowing has started. Streets signs are now in compliance. Inspections of vehicle completed. Road reconstruction over budget of $30,000. Town no longer buying materials beside what is needed.
Police chief reported that for August nearly 100 calls were answered. National Night Out was successful. The new cruiser has arrived at the dealership. The new Taser has been installed and training of officers to the new platform will be soon.
Historical Society to meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the society building. BCEP monthly meeting 6 p.m. Thursday at the Solid Waste facility.
The NH Food Bank will be at the NH Tech Concord on Friday from noon to 2 p.m. to help any Chichester resident who needs food.

Congratulations to the Chichester resident who participated in the oldest and longest-running relay race in the USA. Reach For The Beach Relay started in Lancaster and hit the pavement to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean.
Chichester Central School is off to a great start with the following: Tuesday is band rental night, and Thursday is National School Parent Group Day. Students are learning at library time to sign out books. Third grade is working on DOT day designs in art and enjoyed the introduction to the books that will be used in the first unit.
The Concord Sound & Color Music & Arts Festival is on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 & 19! It is a free two-day festival at venues and outdoor locations throughout our historic city. Our goal is to remove all barriers to arts access and promote the importance of the arts community to the region and beyond. Shows are free, but are ticketed events. Annual Fiddle Festival Returns to Concord Community Music School on Saturday, Oct. 5. Fiddlers from the Celtic, New England and Franco-American fiddling traditions will join forces for the sixth festival, a day packed with workshops and group playing for fiddlers (and violinists who are interested in learning to fiddle!). The Festival, open to teens and adults, will be held at Concord Community Music School, 23 Wall St. The day includes workshops on a variety of topics at the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels. In the evening, all four fiddle faculty members, along with their musical collaborators, will present a toe-tapping evening concert of fiddle music open to the public.
The 21st Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival rolls at Sweeney Hall Auditorium on the NHTI campus. There are four separate screenings: Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. NHTI students are free, all others $10 (cash or check at the door, no advance sales). The United Church of Penacook Food Pantry, serving Penacook residents only, is open every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. year-round. (If Penacook Elementary/Merrimack Valley School District is closed due to weather, the pantry will also be closed.) Visitors coming to the pantry are allowed two bags of groceries and one bag of personal care items every two weeks unless extra food is available or an emergency situation comes up.

Kearsarge Indian Museum will hold its Harvest Moon Festival on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This family-friendly event celebrates the traditional harvest season and features Native American foods, craft demonstrations, activities for kids, and educational exhibits. Weare Planning Board Meeting is Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Town Office Conference Room. The Weare Selectmen’s Meeting is canceled and the Cemetery Committee Meeting has been added on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The email for the Webster Free Public Library has been experiencing some difficulties recently. It appears that the problem has been fixed, but updates on the status of the email will be posted on the library's Facebook page. The telephone is working just fine maybe because it’s one of those old-fashioned ones with a cord.
Coming up in October the Select Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, the Zoning Board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Oct. 8, and the Conservation Commission will have its next meeting on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.
