The state estimates 4.8 million people will visit New Hampshire this summer, spending $2.6 billion, a 3% growth in visitation over last year.

The Division of Travel and Tourism announced their prediction during the Tourism Summit at the Lakeport Opera House in Laconia this week.

New Hampshire’s summer advertising campaign is transitioning from the “Discover Your New” platform to lean into the brand of “Live Free.” New Hampshire will continue to put ads throughout New England and eastern New York; road trip markets of Eastern Pennsylvania and Greater Montreal and Quebec City in Canada.

While the region is supposed to see warm temperatures continue through Friday – though perhaps not as warm as Wednesday – the National Weather Service predicts the holiday weekend to be much cooler.

Saturday is predicted to be sunny, but with a high of only 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Similar conditions are forecast for Sunday – partly sunny and 67 degrees, the service said.

Showers may pour down on Memorial Day in the afternoon with a high of just 62 degrees.

For those looking to honor those who served on the holiday, the Penacook Village Association will hold its Memorial Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. It will step off from Merrimack Valley High School and head north to Village Street toward the Penacook square (Boudreau Square).

There will be a moment of reflection at the monument and a wreath placed. The parade will then continue toward the Washington Street School.
