One person is dead after a fire consumed a single-family home in Weare early Tuesday morning.

The town’s fire department was called to 77 Sewell Hoyt Road around 1:13 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters found “heavy fire” and reports indicated that a resident may still be inside the home, the department said in a press release.

One person was found dead; the victim has not been publicly identified. An autopsy to be performed by the state Medical Examiner’s Office is set for Wednesday, according to the department.

Firefighters from Hopkinton, Dunbarton, Henniker, Bow, Hillsboro, Deering, New Boston, and Bradford all responded to the scene. Goffstown provided coverage to the town’s stations. Weare police and Capital Area Mutual Aid also helped at the scene.

The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing, authorities said.

Anyone who may know something about the fire is asked to call the state Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289.
