Letter: Running for Ward 5 City Councilor

Published: 9/14/2021 7:00:05 AM

My name is Stacey Brown and I’m running for City Council in Ward 5. I’ve been a Concord resident for 12 years, most of that time as a stay-at-home mom, advocating for education, healthy habits and the environment. My husband is a detective with the Concord Police Department and our children attend Concord public schools. We regularly run, walk, bike and hike throughout Concord with our dogs.

As a volunteer, I have created and supported events connecting people to both our natural resources and experts in the community. I proposed and co-created cardboard boat-building for third graders and Engineer Week at Christa McAuliffe School. I co-organized the free Paddle Clinic and the family-friendly Merrimack River Greenway Trail Triathlon. I care about kids’ health and safety. I have supported the annual CPD Bike Rodeo and coached Girls on the Run. I currently work for the Concord Public Library Foundation and serve as the Ward 5 representative on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Outdoor and indoor spaces, such as parks and libraries, are valuable resources that must be equally accessible to everyone.

We are still in the middle of a pandemic and also experiencing the effects of the climate crisis. We must work together to combat these issues. As an Army veteran, former teacher and intelligence officer, I have experience working closely with others to accomplish a common goal. This is what I will continue to do if elected. I would be honored to serve as the Ward 5 City Councilor.
