Letter: No raise for legislators

Published: 01-04-2023 7:00 AM

I just read that legislators are asking for a huge raise. They currently get $100 a year, and now they want $2,000 a year. Their reasoning is because by them being elected to the Legislature it costs them money. Well didn’t they know this before they got on the campaign to hold office?

They want a raise, yet they refuse to give retired state employees a raise. They claim it would cost too much. Well where do they think this raise they want is going to come from? My wallet no doubt. If these legislators can’t afford to be on the Legislature, then they need to not run.
