Boys’ Soccer

Merrimack Valley 1, Lebanon 0

Key players: MV – Carysn Perkins (goal), Andrew Surpenant (assist), Trevor Simonds (shutout in goal), Carter Lankhorst (defense), Eli Wormald (defense), Owen Piper (defense), Jonas Weed (defense)

Highlights: Perkins flicked a Surprenant goal kick past the Lebanon goalkeeper 15 minutes into the match and the Pride went on to hand the Raiders their first loss of the season. Surprenant drove a corner kick to the near post to set up MV’s game-winning goal. Lebanon had many chances, including two shots that went off the goal post, but the Pride’s entire back line of Lankhorst, Wormald, Piper and Weed fought out a strong Raider attack.

Coach’s quote: “That was an all-around great team win. Every single player helped us pull off that huge win today. Lebanon is an extremely tough team with lots of weapons all over the field. We didn’t generate a ton of offense after we scored, but we locked in defensively. I am so happy for the guys to get that win. They have worked hard and things haven’t fallen our way in games, it was great to beat a very skilled Lebanon team tonight.” – MV’s Ken Fuller

Records: MV 8-4-1; Lebanon 12-1-0
