Letter: Trump’s big lie

Published: 10-01-2024 3:35 PM

At least three times in the past few weeks (Lex Fridman’s podcast 9/3, rallies NC, Wisconsin) Donald Trump has publicly admitted he lost the election. Each time he said it was by “a whisker.” Not sure that losing the popular vote by 7 million and the electoral college 306 (Biden) to 232 (Trump) is a whisker, but hey, semantics. Trump has known he has lost since November of 2020. He has convinced millions to donate for his campaign based on this lie, he has convinced election officials in battleground states to commit felonies for him (fake electors in AZ, for example), he convinced the thousands who stormed the Capital in Jan 6 to commit major felonies for him. Many have gone to prison over this lie.

These people have lost jobs, businesses, homes, families. A tweet from racist commentator Nick Fuentes from Sept. 3 stated, “Trump now admits that he lost the 2020 election. This vindicates the DOJ charge against him, why did we have Jan. 6? Why are there people in jail over it? Trump sold out everything the MAGA represented.” I don’t agree with anything MAGA represents, but for those who do and bought into Trump’s big lie, you got played.
