Letter: Abortion is a non-issue

Abortion is not an issue in this year’s governor’s race. Despite the lies from the Joyce Craig crew, Kelly Ayotte has said since her first interview she will not change NH abortion law. Kelly Ayotte won’t change NH abortion law for one very good reason, doing so would be really dumb. Polls consistently show over 60% of NH voters support abortion in “most cases.” NH abortion law allows for abortion for any reason up to six months of pregnancy and medical exceptions for after that period. Voters obviously didn’t have a problem with this law as Gov. Sununu was reelected easily after signing it. Why would Ayotte support further abortion restrictions?

Pro-life voters are going to vote Republican anyway. Why would Ayotte risk alienating over 60% of voters to appease voters that are already going to vote for her? It is totally illogical. So why are Joyce Craig’s supporters trying to pull the ole razzle dazzle on voters around abortion? Joyce Craig isn’t a strong candidate. Craig’s tenure in Manchester could politely be called problematic. Craig has advocated for higher taxes, Massachusetts style tyranny towards gunowners and an $ 800 million taxpayer funded choo-choo. Meanwhile Ayotte has promised to keep our taxes low and protect our rights. The choice is clear on Nov. 5 vote for Kelly Ayotte.
