Letter: Attack ad lies

Misinformation. Disinformation. Alternative facts. Lies by any other name are still lies. No matter how catchy the rhetoric or how often it’s repeated, a lie is a lie. Donald Trump repeatedly lies about many things, most notably the big lie that he won an election which he truly lost. Just like Trump, Kelly Ayotte repeatedly lies in her campaign ads against her Democratic opponent, Joyce Craig. Joyce Craig has amassed a solid record of leadership in our state’s largest city. Beginning in 2007 she repeatedly won elections and served the public. First on the school board, then as alderman, and finally as mayor, defeating the Republican incumbent in 2017.
During Craig’s three terms as mayor, the city of Manchester, once upon a time a decaying mill town, has been revitalized. Craig is credited with improving school quality, combating the opioid epidemic, and promoting the creation of good-paying, high tech jobs. In contrast, Ayotte’s only elective office was a single term as U.S. Senator, after which she was defeated in her 2016 bid for re-election. She has not held any public office since then. New Hampshire voters were right to reject Ayotte in 2016 and Trump in both 2016 and 2020. Don’t believe the lies in Ayotte’s attack ads. Together with a proven track record, Joyce Craig has the experience and leadership skills we need. I urge you to vote for Joyce Craig for governor.
