Two women are accused of breaking into a residence Thursday afternoon on Rumford Street in Concord.

Amanda Dodd, 28, of Manchester and Theresa Johnson, 26, of Concord each face one count of burglary in connection with the incident, according to a statement from Concord police Lt. Tim O’Malley.

Police say additional charges are likely. The department has received reports of 30 burglaries in Concord since early spring, and is investigating whether Dodd and/or Johnson may have been involved. The majority of those break-ins occurred during the day, O’Malley said.

Police responded to Rumford Street on Thursday about 3:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. A resident said she arrived home to find two unknown women in her home. One of them identified herself as Tricia to the resident and asked, “Does Anthony live here?”

That woman and another, who appeared from an adjoining room, acted as though they’d mistakenly entered the wrong home, police said.

The resident reported that her house had been gone through, with clothes strewn about and items missing.

Police said the two suspects left the residence and went north on Rumford Street and then took a cab from Celtic Street to the intersection of School and North Spring streets. Concord police detectives and state police troopers ultimately located the two women, whom they identified as Dodd and Johnson, at an apartment at 32 North Spring St., the same address listed in court records for Johnson.

Inside the apartment, detectives observed “a large quantity of property that appeared to be stolen,” including items reported missing from the Rumford Street home, O’Malley said.

Dodd and Johnson refused bail Thursday and were held overnight at the Merrimack County jail. Both were scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Concord’s district court.

Concord police are continuing to investigate recent burglaries in the city and ask anyone with information to call 225-8600 ext. 3728 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100.
