Concord

Division: I

Coaches: Hayden Daly, Colin Brown, Ross St. Onge (1st year)

Last year: Boys – 7th; Girls – DNS

Returning starters: Boys – Dalton Mutz, jr., sprints; Sam Orzechowski, jr., sprints. Girls – Sarah Zarakotas, so., distance; Maggie Whitcomb, so., distance

Top newcomers: Boys – Matt O’Brien, jr., distance; Manny Feliz, fr., sprints/hurdles; Adrian Kennedy, so., sprints. Girls – Ennosen Yen, so., sprints/jumps; Rebecca Bosa, so., sprints; Katelyn Jelley, jr., sprints

Outlook: Coaches Daly and Brown take over the indoor program after leading the boys’ outdoor program to its first title in 36 years and the girls to a solid seventh-place finish last year. The boys are without Angel Feliz, who scored 14 of Concord’s 22 points at the indoor championships, but return Mutz, who finished third in the 300 and fifth in the 55 dash. A young and inexperienced boys’ squad should also be able to have a strong sprint relay team. A young girls’ team did not send any competitors to the D-I meet last year, but have a lot of experienced athletes doing indoor track for the first time. “Last (outdoor season) was huge for us and our programs,” Daly said. “It’s swung over into indoor.”

Belmont

Division: II

Coach: Scott Clark (3rd year)

Last year: Boys – 15th; Girls – did not score

Returning starters: Boys – Eli Allman, sr., hurdles; Ian Remenar, jr., mid-distance/hurdles/jumps; Nick Randos, jr., distance. Girls – Alice Riley, so., distance; Emma Chase, sr., distance; Jasmine Syed, sr., distance; Jessica Hutchinson, jr., distance; Alexus Day, jr., distance

Top newcomers: Girls – Kaitlyn Delisle, so., sprinter

Outlook: Boys – The Raiders have the pieces to improve on last year’s 15th-place finish in Allman (fourth-place in 55 hurdles), Remenar and Randos. Belmont is coming off strong outdoor track and cross country seasons. Girls – The Raiders will be led by their distance runners this season. Riley was the D-III cross country individual champion in the fall and was less than a second away from scoring in the 3,000 last indoor season. Chase, Hutchinson, Syed and Day formed the eighth-place 4×800 team last winter, but won the D-III 4×800 in the spring. Delisle was the team’s top sprinter last outdoor season and is making her indoor debut this year.

Teams to beat: Boys – Souhegan, Portsmouth. Girls – Coe-Brown, Oyster River

Bishop Brady

Division: II

Coach: Diane Morey (8th year)

Last year: Boys – DNS; Girls – DNS

Returning starters: Boys – Joshua Carrier, sr., sprints/jumps; Nicholas Jope, sr., sprints/jumps; Andrew O’Connor, sr., sprints/jumps/throws. Girls – Emily Finnegan, jr., sprints/jumps

Top newcomers: Boys – Sean Sullivan, sr., shot put. Girls – Anna Grafton, jr., distance

Outlook: The Green Giants are small in numbers, but have some experience and talent. One highlight could be Sullivan, who is returning to indoor track after a year off. Sullivan won the D-III discus title in the spring and also saw solid results in the shot put. On the girls’ side, Grafton is coming off a strong cross country season.

Coe-Brown

Division: II

Coach: Dave Zink (10th year)

Last year: Boys – 12th; Girls – 6th

Returning starters: Boys – Isaiah Allen, sr., throws; Ethan Barbeau, sr., sprints; Colin Cain, jr., sprints; Orion Clachar, jr., sprints/hurdles; Gabe Deely, so., distance; Davio DeLuca, sr., distance; Tristan Jardon, sr., distance; Erik Nelson, jr., sprints; Chris Pratt, sr., distance; Tanner Richards, sr., distance; Zach Richards, sr., distance; Evan Tanguay, jr., distance; Jon Thorn, so., throws; Drew Tremblay, jr., sprints. Top newcomers: Boys – Landon Bundy, fr., distance; Evan Clark, fr., distance; Ben Healey, so., distance; Josh Heckman, fr., distance; Colby Hoffman, so., distance; Yong Liu, sr., sprints; Sam Patteson, fr., distance; Cody Tanguay, fr., distance; Isaac Wells, fr., sprints. Girls – Jaden Boulanger, fr., sprints; Summer Brown, so., sprints; Ruby Carr, fr., sprints; Hannah Daly, sr., distance; Liby Downer, fr., sprints; Sophie Laird, fr., sprints; Mabel Mackey., fr., sprints; Brynna Meeker, fr., sprints; Abby O’Connor, fr., distance; Emily Olofson, so., sprints; Abigail Pelletier, fr., sprints; Adrianna Reid, so., sprints; Maddy Tortorella-Lewis, fr., sprints.

Outlook: Boys – The Bears will rely heavily on their distance crew (22 of the 33 on the roster are distance runners), which is coming off its third straight D-II cross country title. Zach Richards (fifth in the 1,000 last year), Tanner Richards, Evan Tanguay and most members of last year’s winning 4×800 relay team are returning. The Bears also return Clachar (sixth, 55 hurdles) and Allen (qualified in the shot put). With the potential for an increasing number of qualifiers in the sprints, shot put and hurdles, Coe-Brown has more balance and depth than in previous years. “We may be able to put together some scoring relays,” Coach Zink said. Girls – Pratt (fifth, 3,000) is the only returning scorer from the D-II championship last year and leads a strong group of returning distance runners including Dupuis, McDonough, Barnes and Carney. Rookies Daly (senior) and O’Connor (freshman) are coming off strong cross country seasons and could make an instant impact. Joy leads a young group of sprinters, while Collins looks strong in the shot put. “The team lost all but two points from last year’s team, but an increase in depth in the track events will provide an opportunity to improve,” Coach Zink said.

Teams to beat: Boys: Portsmouth, Lebanon, Souhegan. Girls: Milford, Souhegan, Portsmouth, Lebanon

Franklin

Division: II

Coach: Derrick Wong (1st year)

Last year: Boys – DNS; Girls – DNS

Top newcomers: Boys – Chandler Glover, fr., sprints/jumps; Chandler Labrecque, fr., sprints/jumps/hurdles. Girls – Emma LaPierre, fr., sprints/hurdles)

Outlook: After a few seasons with only a handful of athletes, the Golden Tornadoes have a 20-man roster that is especially deep on the boys’ side. “We’re looking to develop a well-rounded program that relies on every member of the team contributing in several events and to not only put up great individual performances, but also to be competitive as an entire team,” Coach Wong said. “I’ve been impressed with the raw athleticism, talent and work ethic from this team.”

Teams to beat: Gilford, Bow

Gilford

Division: II

CoachES: Joe Wernig (4th year) and Janine Powis (1st year)

Last year: Boys – DNS; Girls – DNS

Returning starters: Boys – Anthony Eldridge, sr., sprints/long jump; Josh LaFrance, jr., sprints/long jump; Michael Wernig, jr., mid-distance/shot put. Girls – Elizabeth Relf, jr., distance; Madison Relf, jr. distance

Top newcomers: Boys – Mohammed Abdelfattah, fr., shot put. Girls – Reese Clark, fr., sprints/long jump; Brianna Fraser, fr., sprints/long jump; Natalie Fraser, fr., sprints/long jump; Katianna Gamach, fr., sprints/long jump/shot put

Outlook: The Golden Eagles only have four boys and six girls on the roster and the small, D-III outdoor program likely won’t be much of a factor in the highly competitive D-II indoor team standings. However, all of the upperclassmen on the team have at least two years of experience and the freshmen should make an immediate impact. “The competition is much tougher (indoors). The goals are to improve each meet and have some athletes qualify … and get ready for the spring season,” Coach Wernig said.

Kearsarge

Division: II

CoachES: Ed Rehor (20th year) and Hannah Hernick (1st year)

Last year: Boys – 4th; Girls – DNS

Returning starters: Boys – Carl Betz, sr.; Eric Scheuch, sr.; Andrew Shepherd, sr.; Mike Fraioli, so. Girls – Kasey Lipscomb, sr.; Cerys Wheatley, jr.

Top newcomers: Girls – Courtney Goodwin, fr.; Calea Budd, jr.

Outlook: Boys – The Cougars lost all 31 points from last year’s program-record fourth-place finish and two of the best field athletes in Troy Davis (jumps) and Zach Astle (shot put), but have a strong group of distance runners returning. Betz and Shepherd both competed at states last year and could be part of a formidable 4×800 team. Berube looks like he will be strong in the long jump and 300. Girls – The Cougars didn’t have any qualifiers at the state meet last year, but have some strong returners and newcomers in Goodwin (shot put) and Budd (sprinter).

Teams to beat: Monadnock, Belmont
