Musician Jenny Scheinman and filmmaker Finn Taylor will screen a newly-edited film of work by H. Lee Waters, called Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait.
Waters documented the daily life of regular people in more than 118 small towns in the southeast from 1936-42.
You’ll see mill workers leaving factories at the end of their shifts, a mother and daughter dancing, an older man reading the news, children racing to a teeter-totter.
Scheinman and Taylor have re-edited the images to create a new movie. It will be accompanied by Scheinman’s live musical performance.
You can watch Kannapolis on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Center for the Arts. It will be followed by a question and answer session with Scheinman moderated by Concord filmmaker John Gfoerer.
Tickets to the show and post-show session are $15. Tickets to the show, question session and a pre-show reception are $50.
