A grand jury has indicted a Concord mother and father in the death of their 2-month-old child, who police say ingested methamphetamine in a travel camper where the family lived.
Bradford Ross, 25, and Kayla Austin, 21, each face felony charges of negligent homicide, manslaughter and prohibited conduct in connection with the death of their infant son, Cayden Ross, in Penacook in August 2016.
The state medical examiner determined the boy died of methamphetamine intoxication.
Authorities responded to a travel camper parked at 54 Penacook St. on Aug. 1 after receiving a report of an infant who was not breathing. While on scene, police said they observed drug paraphernalia inside the camper and sought a search warrant.
Police initially arrested and charged Austin and Ross in early August with felony drug possession and distribution charges while continuing to investigate the infant’s death. Nine months later, authorities levied homicide charges against the couple.
Ross remains incarcerated at the Merrimack County jail in Boscawen. Austin is out of jail under the supervision of the county’s pretrial services program.
