Despite the wintry mix that closed Concord schools and slowed traffic, about 10 people went to the State House on Tuesday to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. Franklin police Chief David Goldstein lit the first light on the 13-foot menorah with assistance from Rabbi Levi Krinsky of Chabad Lubavitch of New Hampshire. Festivities that were to accompany the lighting have been postponed until 4 p.m. Sunday on the plaza. The sixth night of Hanukkah, if you’re counting.
