Attention, morning-show bookers: The House of Cards folks might have an opening in their schedule.
The stars of the dark political thriller, who are promoting the debut of the latest season of the show on Netflix, pulled out of a planned interview with Megyn Kelly after the Today anchor’s controversial remarks about blackface, per the Hollywood Reporter. A Netflix spokeswoman confirmed that they would not appear on Kelly’s show, but did not say if they would appear if Kelly was no longer on air, as some are reporting is the case.
It wasn’t clear which of the stars or crew were slated for the interview.
The HoC protest is just the latest bit of trouble for Kelly, who on Tuesday defended Halloween costumes that involve blackface – and later apologized to viewers. “Sometimes I talk and sometimes I listen, and yesterday I learned,” she said. “I learned given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not okay for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise.”
And as NBC brass is determining her fate, it seems House of Cards stars, including Robin Wright and Michael Kelly, will just have to hype the sixth and final season of the show, which drops Nov. 2, elsewhere.
