Division I football programs from all around the country have offered scholarships to Weare native and St. Paul’s School junior quarterback Parker McQuarrie.

After a trip to southern California in March, the 6-foot-7, 208-pound signal caller decided to join a New Hampshire football icon at UCLA.

McQuarrie announced on Twitter (@PBMcQuarrie) that he has committed to play for the Bruins under head coach Chip Kelly, a Manchester native and former UNH offensive coordinator who also coached the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

McQuarrie, who played for John Stark before transferring to St. Paul’s in 2018, is rated a four-star prospect by the recruiting site 247Sports, which also listed Michigan, Miami, Boston College and UMass as schools that were interested in the Weare standout. He’s ranked as the No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the country.

The Class of 2020 prospect led St. Paul’s School to an undefeated season last fall, capping it with a 16-6 victory over Pingree School in the Ken Hollingsworth Bowl to finish 8-0.

Kelly took over at UCLA in 2018, but the rebuilding Bruins went 3-9 during his first season at the helm. Kelly had a 46-7 record in four seasons at Oregon from 2009-2012.
