Concord police are asking the public to find who stole a resident’s truck and possibly their dog Thursday night.
Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said police responded to a call at 6:25 a.m. Friday morning reporting a break-in on Ripley Street. The caller told police she had woken up to find that someone had gone into their home and stolen her husband’s car keys.
In addition, the owner’s 4-year-old male golden retriever named Dustin was missing, causing owner Vicky Norton Merrill to worry and fear for hours.
But by Friday afternoon, Dustin was home safe.
Merrill reported several items stolen, including a laptop, a tablet, a winter coat, boots and a backpack with a wallet belonging to Les Merrill, Merrill’s husband.
But none of that mattered as much as Dustin, who she feared was also taken, Merrill said.
Roughly three hours after police received the call, a white GMC pickup truck was found crashed into the backside of 12 S. Main St., where Endicott Furniture is located, Ford said. Police responded to the scene and identified the vehicle as the one reported missing earlier.
Merrill said she and her husband were home asleep when the break-in occurred. She said she is worried and angry and “every emotion in between.”
Police are asking anyone with additional information to please contact Lt. Sean Ford at 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline 226-3100.
