■The Merrimack County Stamp Collectors will hold its monthly meeting at the Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South St., on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. (weather permitting). They invite all who are interested in stamp collecting to attend, share their interest, buy, sell and trade and to gain new insight and knowledge sharing news articles and stories about stamp collecting. ■Community breakfasts at the Dunbarton Congregational Church Vestry are held Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m. Come enjoy a hardy, home-cooked breakfast of eggs or pancakes, bacon or sausage, home fries, homemade breads, coffee, tea, juice or cocoa every Sunday during January and February. Proceeds go to the vestry restoration payment. Cost for the whole shebang is $10 or $8 includes two eggs or two pancakes, two sausage or two bacon, two slices of toast and a drink. Everyone is welcome.

■On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., a local author visit with Bethanee Syversen at the library.

■The Public Library Reading Group is reading 100-Year-Old-Man-Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. Book discussion at the library will be Wednesday at noon.

■On Thursday at the elementary school, kindergarten through third-graders will perform their band and strings winter concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

■Town offices will be closed Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan 20, and there will be no school on MLK Day.

■Supervisors of the checklist will meet Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at the town office for correction of the checklist. Party changes will not be accepted at this meeting.

■Knitting for Kids (of all ages) is held every Friday after school at 2:30 p.m. at the library. Please bring your own projects, or you’ll get help to start one. Also, the knitters at the library are teaming up with the DCC “Green Team” Plarn Project. Please bring your plastic grocery and shopping bags to the library. They will turn these bags into plastic yarn called “plarn.” The plarn will then be crocheted and knitted into bags, door mats and sleeping mats for the homeless.

■Weare filing period for town offices is Jan. 22 to 31 and the open positions are: selectman, moderator, library trustee, trustees of the trust funds, cemetery trustee, and board of fire.

■At HCS on Jan. 24, the artist in residence from India will have a final performance with students and artists at 7 p.m. in the gym. Free and open to the public. Then on Feb. 3, Henniker School District Board meeting will be at 6:15 p.m. in the school library. Meeting will recess at 7 p.m. to the Café for the deliberative session.

■At JSRHS on Friday, John Stark Regional High School Board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Meeting will recess at 7 p.m. for the public hearing on the proposed 2020-21 John Stark School budget. Both meetings are in the school library.

■John Stark Regional High School art teacher Bess French has two of her assemblage sculptures, “Virtue” and “Luck,” included in a nationally-juried exhibition later this month at Nazareth College in New York. Her works will appear from Jan. 24 through March 1, along with the work of 31 other artists who were selected to be showcased in this exhibit.
