As a member of the state Legislature representing Concord, I have found Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes to be the forward-thinking leader responsible for most all of the progressive successes we’ve made in the last several years on health care, energy and education. Dan is honest, compassionate, optimistic and responsible, and has a record of holding Gov. Chris Sununu accountable.

Sadly, Dan’s Democratic opponent in the gubernatorial primary has chosen to run a negative campaign. Andru Volinsky has grossly distorted Dan’s positions, falsely claimed Dan has threatened to kill legislation to get endorsements, and has called Dan a liar. Even worse, Andru has crossed a line with an unfounded attack on Dan’s wife, Erin.

I hope Andru and his staff change their strategy immediately. People are tired of knock-down, drag-out, win-at-all-cost politics. Serving in the Legislature, I also know it’s not the way to get things done – at all. Dan gets that, but Andru, at this point, doesn’t.

Moreover, if we are going to beat Chris Sununu, we can’t afford a nasty primary.

Let’s set aside petty tactics against members of our own party and move forward with Dan Feltes.
