Paving has begun on Bog Road in North Concord, which was so beat up that more than 350 people signed a petition asking for it to be smoothed out.

The road is closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily between Cabernet Drive and River Road. Paving the gravel section began early last week, according to Concord General Services. Later, the city will start reclaiming the section from Fisherville Road to Cabernet.

Chip Chesley, director of General Services, says the decline in traffic due to stay-at-home orders โ€œhas helped a bit in the daily productionโ€ of roadwork.

He noted that the city is following guidelines from New Hampshire Department of Transportation for contractors to follow when working on site, and said that โ€œit will be good for residents to continue with safe distancing protocols when meeting with our field representatives.โ€
