BOWNational Garden Week

■National Garden Week will run through Saturday. The Bow Garden Club is joining garden clubs across the country in celebrating National Garden Week by promoting its primary mission – the love of gardening! This year, similar to last, the garden club will be offering complimentary “kids potting packets” for Bow youth. Families are invited to drive through the Community Center parking lot either Monday from 10 a.m. to noon or Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. where each child will be given a “potting packet.” The packets contain a colorful plant pot, a pack of either flower or vegetable seeds and a bag of pre-measured soil. Planting instructions will be printed on the seed packs. COVID-19 guidelines will be in place. This was a very popular activity in 2019 when the club had its National Garden Week on display at the Baker Free Library and the garden club hopes Bow families will take advantage of this opportunity. Happy gardening!

■In lieu of the popular annual Spring Plant Sale that was cancelled due to the pandemic, the Bow Garden Club is holding a Plant-Less Plant Sale asking plant sale patrons to instead consider making a donation to the club in an amount representing the purchase of a hanging plant or a flat or two of annuals, veggie starters or herbs. The club’s spring sale is one of its primary fundraisers and relies on the proceeds from this sale to cover the cost of purchasing the plantings we enjoy on display at Rotary Park, the Town Gazebo, etc., throughout the growing season. Donations may be made by check payable to Bow Garden Club with “plant sale” noted in the memo section. Mail checks to Sharon Pearce, 17 Woodhill Road, Bow, NH 03304. All donations are tax deductible and their receipt will be acknowledged and much appreciated. Please visit bowgardenclub.org or contact Joyce Kimball, BGC Fundraising Chairman at joyceakimball@comcast.net or 229-1990 for any additional information. Thank you!

■The Bow Rotary Annual Car Show, previously scheduled for May 16, has been postponed until Aug. 22. Anyone who pre-registered may choose a refund if they are unable to attend on the new date. Updated registration forms and additional information are now available at bowrotary.org.

■The Bow Rotary Summer Concert Series has also been postponed. The Rotary Club hopes to be able to reschedule it for later this summer, providing it becomes safe to do so

■The library is hard at work on a phased approach to reopening. The safety and health of staff and patrons remains the utmost concern. All programs will remain virtual until further notice, including most of the Summer Reading Program which will be modified to be mostly virtual to keep our community safe. Participants will use a virtual reading program tool called READsquared that was acquired for New Hampshire libraries to use for the next two summers. A tentative schedule of events is available at dunbartonlibrary.org/srp-programs.html.

■The library’s Guided Meditations will return shortly with host Judy Caron of Living Mindfully NH on June 18 and June 25 at 7 p.m.
