Not long ago, I was a candidate for governor typically referred to as the “outsider” in the race. With my background in business, as an auditor of state and local governments, and as a mayor, I felt it was important to have someone in the State House whose life experiences were primarily outside of Concord.

I still feel like that matters. In Executive Council District 2, we have an opportunity to elect somebody who understands the small towns and rural areas, and who sounds different from most of the other politicians. That’s why I’m supporting Craig Thompson for Executive Council on Sept. 8. I hope you will, too.

In almost 20 years of activism in New Hampshire politics, I’ve never seen an elected official with the unique set of skills, experiences, and knowledge Craig brings to public service. As a farmer, small business owner, and legislator, his election represents an opportunity to bring an important diversity of life experiences and talent to the council.

Craig brings clear, progressive values, and a legislative record to match. In the New Hampshire House, in addition to sponsoring expansive climate legislation, he has worked on criminal justice reform, education funding, and protecting minority rights, all while serving on the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee. And it’s clear to me that the Executive Council needs Craig’s unique background as it considers the future of leadership at the state level, including on environmental and agricultural policy. New Hampshire needs Craig Thompson on the Executive Council.
