When we think of some cities, we think of their iconic buildings: Pisa’s leaning tower, New York’s Empire State Building, Rome’s Colosseum, Paris’s Eiffel Tower, Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia, Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia. These precious jewels are testaments to each city’s culture and history – and would be at best difficult, at worst impossible, to replace.
Also in this category is Concord’s gasholder house, built in 1888. It’s the only structure of its kind in the United States and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. Let’s do everything we can to save the gasholder house from the wrecking ball and breathe new life into our local landmark.
