JerriAnne Boggis, executive director of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, was working Tuesday afternoon when former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chavin was found guilty for the murder of George Floyd.
She was alerted by an ecstatic call from her sister.
Boggis was overcome with a sense of relief and recalled her sister’s jubilation. “My sister was screaming, ‘They found him guilty! Guilty! Thank God!’” she said.
The death of Floyd, a Black man, resulting from Chauvin kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes last spring, spurred nationwide calls for racial justice and police accountability.
